Coat-X is one of our more important advancements. From the start it filled all our requirements better than any alternative on the market. Whilst designing the new Helios horsebox we had criteria that needed new solutions. The first issue was weight and we knew we needed to move away from heavy rubber mats and kick sheet. Durability and strength were very important and Coat-X more than met these requirements. Another problem with heavy rubber mats was removing them to clean out the horse area and the difficulties waterproofing the horse floors beneath them. Again Coat-X totally waterproofs the whole horse area and is tough enough for steam cleaning and power washing. Kick sheet posed a similar problem, fixing it to walls was difficult as it expanded badly with heat and then it needed capping and after all that water could still get behind and start rotting the body. Yet again Coat-x protective coating completely removed these problems. We now have the ability to make smooth shapes for the horse area and tack boxes with no cappings and sharp edges setting us apart from other manufacturers. Our Helios horse areas are neat and seam free with a finish others aspire to.

Coat-X on horsebox and trailer ramps

Another area where Coat-x excels is on horsebox and trailer ramps where grip and weight are both very important. We tested many ramp surfaces with various finishes and with years of experience within the horsebox manufacturing industry we knew what our customers needed. Existing ramp coverings ranged from carpet to heavy rubber, however these coverings are problematic when wet; water makes them slippery and it always finds a way underneath and this not only makes the ramp heavier and heavier, but also causes rust on any steel or aluminium parts. We spray Coat-X on all our horsebox ramps and offer it as an option when repairing or building new horsebox ramps for customers. When you consider the amount of commitment involved in owning a horse one of the most important decisions must be the finish in the horse area and on the ramp.

For these reasons other manufacturers are now following our lead. Word has spread throughout the horse community and many customers are asking for Coat-X in their builds as a lightweight alternative to heavy rubber mats and kick sheets. It is worth noting that any spray on protective coating is only as good as the people doing the job. Coat-X polyurea resin spray-on protective coating is a tried and tested system and a very versatile coating product. It offers corrosion resistance, waterproofing as well as abrasion protection. It removes the need for gluing or screwing a wall covering into the horse area and also removes the need for heavy mats on the floor. Because Coat-X is sprayed over the whole ramp surface, walls and floor in the horse area, it is completely waterproof. Our granules in the top surface allow grip whilst letting water run between hoofs or shoes and the ramp surface. The finish is extremely neat, not affected by sun or heat and looks like new after each washing.
