Commercial vehicle repainting and our Spray Shop

As coachbuilders and horsebox manufacturers, our commercial spray shop department has over 30 years of paint experience in both the commercial vehicle and the aerospace (military and commercial aircraft) industries. We specialise in commercial vehicle painting and respraying using quality products and paint. Our conscientious team respray and paint customers vehicles to the highest standards. Vinyl decals can be designed to your own personal choice or we can design them for you. Not only do we spray our own new builds, we have a good turnover of horsebox and vehicle resprays. We take great pride in finishing our horseboxes in a high quality product. Our attention to detail is second to none. The same applies to our repainting for tractor units, box/panel vans, cement mixers, tippers and flatbeds. We carry out non-major repairs prior to re-painting. The coachbuilding workshop will undertake major alterations and repairs to your requirements. Static items are easily accommodated in our two thermostatically controlled spray shops. The larger of the two bays enables us to work on most vehicles. After a vehicle has been sprayed, we offer the choice of refurbishing parts before replacing them onto the repainted job.

New colours
Earlier in the year, we sprayed our deluxe Helios horsebox with a three stage metallic pearl (ultra) green; we wanted something that really stood out from the usual offerings. The paint team also put their spin on the paintwork by adding green metal flake to the paint. This colour scheme has proved to be so popular that we are now spraying our fourth horsebox. We realise colour is a very personal thing and for this reason we include any colour metallic paint as standard on the Helios and Aeos ranges. For us, it is beneficial to have horseboxes sprayed in a variety of colours to give customers an idea of how their choice would look. Taking a risk with a vivid colour spices our website up and we can always judge public reaction to something new on facebook or Twitter. Fortunately, the paint team can match any colour paint, so if customers have seen something they really like, we can spray it!
Commercial vehicle painting and our Helios horsebox range
For our own Helios horsebox builds our commercial spray shop has proved invaluable. Rather than manufacture a horsebox to completion then drive off premises to have it painted we paint at each stage of the build process. This increases the quality of our finished product in both looks and longevity. Horseboxes notoriously rot from the underside of the skirt up. As part of our commitment to building an unrivalled name in quality with the Helios brand, our commercial spray shop team paint every Helios at the sub frame stage with 3 coats of protective paint. At the end of the build process when the horsebox enters the spray shop again for full painting they respray the underside once more painting any added parts and then Waxoyl the whole underside.
Coat-X Polyurea spray-on protective coating
Heavy rubber mats and kick sheet have remained almost unchanged for over 30 years. As an innovative company with a clear vision of what we wanted to offer as a finish in our horseboxes, we could see the benefits of a spray on polyurea liner. The moment it was available we started testing surfaces and finishes. As part of our testing and research we included input from customers, equine colleges and universities. The trials were all done with horse transport businesses; this was the toughest test available, as they constantly have new horses loading each day. The results were to say the least amazing! In fact so good, we had independent slip testing experts, test "Coat-X" and a standard rubber mat side by side for slip resistance to BS 7976-2, the HSE's preferred slip test method. "Coat-X" clearly provided an increased resistance to slipping in water wet conditions compared to a standard mat. "Coat-X" achieved a Pendulum Test Value (PTV) of 44 in the wet, comfortably falling within the 'Low risk of slip' category as determined by the HSE. Our Polyurea resin Coat-X fulfills all the requirements for a quality horse area and horsebox ramp. Because it is totally water proof and sprayed on at high temperatures it seals every part. It looks fantastic after each wash and is very hard wearing and light. We have used this product for years and other manufacturers are now following our lead. It is down to solid research, investment in machinery and our committed conscientious team of sprayers, that the finish in our Helios horse areas and ramps are at the forefront in our industry. We have been so busy with this product from the start that we started a new business Coat-X protective coating. We offer the Coat-X polyurea resin spray-on protective coating, as an alternative to heavy rubber mats and kick sheet, to customers with existing horseboxes and to those with horseboxes being built by other manufacturers.

Properties of our Coat-X Polyurea Spray-On Protective Coating
Polyurea resin Coat-X spray-on protective coating is a tried and tested system and a very versatile coating product. It offers corrosion resistance, waterproofing as well as abrasion protection. It removes the need for gluing or screwing a wall covering into the horse area and also removes the need for heavy mats on the floor. Because Coat-X is sprayed over the whole ramp surface, walls and floor in the horse area it is completely waterproof. Our granules in the top surface allow grip whilst letting water run between hoofs or shoes and the ramp surface. The finish is extremely neat, not affected by sun or heat and looks like new after each washing.
Coat-X for truck bed lining and for covering ply lining on vans
We use Coat-X as a protective coating for truck bed liners, covering ply lining in vans and many types of commercial vehicle. It protects both the loads and vehicle alike. Sprayed onto ply lining it will cover interiors of new vehicles or make older vans look like new. Finish is smart and uniform adding a professional look to any work vehicle. For vehicles that get more vigorous use it protects from spills as there are no seams. For delivery vans it is extremely good at stopping loads from sliding around which also adds to safety. It protects against abrasion and corrosion with the added benefit of good sound insulation. Our team of sprayers take great pride in each commission and treat every vehicle whether it is new or used with care, masking both inside and out to protect from overspray.
